May 3 & 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Flynt Center of Early New England Life

Fun for the whole family!

Come and visit heritage breed sheep under the big tent! Discover the history of sheep in New England and learn why the Merino created such a craze!

Included with general admission. Free for members, youth 17 and under, and residents of Deerfield/South Deerfield.


Activity Highlights

  • Back by popular demand: “Meet and Greet the Sheep” with heritage breed expert, Peter Cook from Tare Shirt Farm in Berwick, Maine
  • Sheepdog herding demonstrations
  • Enjoy hands-on activities like dyeing yarn and weaving
  • Make and take a sheep-inspired craft or two
  • Sheep shearing demonstrations
  • Have fun playing lawn games and trying your hand at using a drop spindle to spin wool into yarn
  • Grab lunch from an on-site food truck!

Performers

Tim Van Egmond has been delighting audiences throughout the country since 1978. He has appeared at hundreds of schools, libraries, and community centers, as well as folk festivals and television and radio programs. He’s been selected by the Massachusetts Cultural Council for its STARS Residency Programs in schools. He has been chosen a number of times for the NH State Library’s “Kids, Books, and the Arts Project.”  Tim has presented workshops at Sharing the Fire, New England’s annual storytelling conference, the Boston Regional Library System for its Youth Services Librarians, and the New England League of Middle School’s United Arts Conference, among others.

 

 

 

 

Roger Tincknell has been performing for children, families, and seniors in the U.S., Canada and Europe for over 45 years. His strong, expressive vocal styles, show stopping yodeling and masterful instrumental skills bring a warmth and versatility to his performances. With a background as a classroom teacher and music specialist, Roger has pioneered programs in multicultural, environmental and special needs education and curriculum development.
