Dr. Jack Richman is the 1812 Naval Surgeon for USS Constitution (Old Ironsides).
In this role, he is part of the 1812 Marine Guard. This unit represents the US Marine Corps and associated naval and civilian roles of the early 19th century. The 1812 Marine Guard educates the USS Constitution, active-duty Navy, and the public about the Marines other sea service related roles of the period. The 1812 Marine Guard are volunteer members of the USS Constitution’s crew. Dr. Jack Richman OD is a modern era doctor and uses his medical knowledge to compare and contrast the medical practices and beliefs of the early 19th century with our modern understanding. Jack will be presenting information about medical practices, medicines, and general health topics, specific to the sea services in the early 19th century age of sail.
